Black College All-Stars Come To Middle Georgia

(Atlanta, GA) The 2nd annual Black College All-Star Classic will be held in the heart of Middle Georgia, Macon on April 7 – 9, 2005. The classic is the highlight of black college basketball with over two dozen players representing over 15 historically black colleges and universities.

The classic weekend kicks off with a meet and greet for players and coaches, a free college fair and teen summit and ending with the draft on Sunday, April 10. “We are excited to bring a well-rounded event to Macon,” states Leroy McMath, league President. “The entire community will get a chance to see what the WBA is all about and scouts will get a chance to see the wealth that Macon has to offer.”

Last year, scouts from the NBA, NBDL, and CBA were in attendance and are expected to come back to screen this year’s players. “The BCASC being back for a second year establishes some consistency that scouts and top professional organizations appreciate. As a result, the Classic is attracting a lot of well deserved attention for the participating players and the WBA,” adds David Archer, WBA Deputy Commissioner.

In addition, the high school all star game will host some of Georgia’s top players who are set to make this inaugural game fast-paced fun. During each game, a concert featuring local and national artists will entertain the crowds. Confirmed artists include Gucci Man, Scoundrels, Pastor Troy and G-Money.

The World Basketball Foundation produces the Black College All-Star Classic to provide platform for black college athletes to showcase their talents to a national audience. CSS has agreed to televise the game again this year. Also, the classic gives the scouts an opportunity to see quality athletes at one time. Commissioner Mike Glenn comments, “We know these guys have what it takes but don’t always get a chance to be in front of the people who can make their professional careers happen…that’s what the classic does.”
